Lifting caravan boxes is one of the available jobs in FOnline: 2238, which means it is a task you can perform to earn some money. A caravan master in a town will ask you to lift 10 boxes from one of his caravan carts. The task will take you a few minutes, then you will get paid 200 caps and 50 xp. The wage and experience points reward are the same in every town.

Notes
* You can carry only one box at a time. Whenever you lift it, it will have no effect as the box will disappear.
* Boxes have to be lifted in some special area, near the caravan cart, among a pile of other boxes. Lifting them anywhere else will not count.
* There is a cooldown to this quest, you have to wait 15 minutes to do it again in the same town (But meanwhile, you can travel to another city to do the job there).

Towns where the job is available
* The Hub (Main entrance).
* Boneyard (Boneyard Downtown, scavengers area).
* San Francisco (Main entrance, on the left).
* Broken Hills (near Residental entrance)
|align="center"|« Shit. Shit never changes. »

|-
|}

Shit shoveling is a good way to earn easy xp at low levels (till about level 5, after that it becomes a drag) and good for getting some fast caps.

Introduction to shit shoveling
If you want to shovel shit all you have to do is go to the brahmin pens in any city and start using a shovel on the shit you see laying around. If you don't have a shovel you can ask the brahmin herdsman for one, they are usually around the brahmin pens.

Equip your shovel and change it's mode to "Use On". Now you need to click on your shovel and then on the brahmin shit laying around. Don't pick up shit with your hands as you won't get payed for it!

For every pile of shit you shovel you'll get 10 xp and a certain amount of caps depending on the town you shovel the shit in (see below).

Location of the brahmin pens
There are brahmin pens in a lot of towns. Here is a list of their locations :

* NCR, in the outer part of the town, in the western city side.
* NCR Train Station (you can only see the Train Station after you complete a certain quest). The train station is not crowded, so you should be left alone there.
* The Hub, near the city's main entrance.
* Junktown, in the town. There are two sets of pens and two Herdsmen, one to the left of the clinic, and one right from the General Store (Darkwater's).
* Redding, near the South Side entrance, to the west.
* Modoc, near the slaughterhouse.
* Klamath, near the city's main entrance.
* Vault City, in the outer part of the city, above the slavess pen, below Happy Harry shop.
* Gecko, in the middle of the city.
* Broken Hills, at the south of the city's main entrance.
* Ghost Farm, on the outside.
* In Boneyard there is no brahmin pen but there is a brahmin walking around that craps all over the place so if you want you could shovel there too. Note : there is no brahmin herdsman in Boneyard so you will have to bring your own shovel and you won't get any caps for it.

Reward
* For each pile shovelled, you get 10 xp.
* For each pile shovelled, you get a certain amount of caps :
** In NCR and The Hub : 10 caps
** In any other town : 5 caps

Talk to the brahmin herdsman after having cleaned some shit to receive your pay.

Advice
* If you are low level be sure to stay in NCR, The Hub or Junktown, as these are safe towns where you won't get killed by a random player-killers. Otherwise, shit-cleaners are easily shot when they finish their cleaning work and receive their caps...

* If you only shovel shit in NCR or The Hub till you reach level 5 you'll have around 6k caps when you are done. This is very useful for buying your first gun, armour or profession, and, why not ? Buying your very first base...

* If you read the whole article, you'll know that you're better off shoveling shit in The Hub or NCR. Pens are numerous in those cities, and they are safe. Plus, you get paid twice as much as in other towns.

Advice for beginners

Here is some advice for beginners, It's really useful and may well save your life. Really, this article is a gold mine, so pay attention to it.

*For help getting started with FOnline: 2238 go here, it contains information about how to create a good character, starting the game, and so on.
*If you need any extra help other than that guide, it might be a good idea to check that whole section of the forum here.

Advice
Basics
* Once you're in the game, you may want to know some useful shortcuts. F1 will show them.
:Q shows the range of your sight.
:W shows the range of your weapon.
:A changes to attack mode.
:F6 displays names above players' heads.
* Beware when you're in towns without guards (Most Northern towns). Gangs there will kill you without hesitation. You should try to do some quests to gain your first levels.
* Guards punish assault with deadly force, but ignore theft. keep your most vital items in your hands (note that some town's guards will attack you simply for openly carrying a weapon, so be careful).
* Be careful with drugs, some of them, like Jet, are instantly and permanently addictive. Get the infos on drugs on this wiki before using "Chems".
* Pay attention to your reputation. Attacking or stealing in a guarded town may make town NPCs hate you. Killing slavers will make you hated in Den, killing Rangers will make you hated in NCR, and so on. Of course, animals are usually reputation-free so you can kill them guilt-free with no change to your reputation.
* When reading chat messages you may encounter abbreviations. Check their wiki page to learn more about them.
Survive and grow stronger
* At the beginning, trust nobody. Seriously, newbie-abuse is very popular.
* Be careful. In the beginning random encounters are deadly. Even rats can kill you if you don't run fast enough! But as soon as you've grabbed a gun, you'll be able to slay 'em all!
* When you've got your first gun, avoid human encounters. Try to kill spore plants, rats, little geckos, little radscorpions, brahmin (to get hides for your first tent) and so on. Dogs are tough and fast, so beware.
* If you keep dying in random encounters, try making a new character and tagging the Outdoorsman skill, it will help you avoid fights you can't handle once raised. - Remember, 95% is as effective as this skill get's so don't raise it past this point.
* You can rent an hotel room for only 100 caps a week.
* You can go in the desert and enter in a random location to search for resources. Resources are needed to craft items. Once you've gathered a few resources, you can craft some primitive but useful tools, or trade them for a small sum of caps.

Get caps
Caps are the currency of the Wasteland. You'll need some in the beginning, because they allow you to buy (for about 1000 caps) a tent, a safe location to store your stuff. Obtaining a tent, by whatever means, should be your first priority : Earn caps, buy brahmin hides from a trader in a guarded town, and make a tent. Unfortunately, Brahmin hides are rare in shops these days, so you may have to buy some from other players, mug them or go Brahmin hunting yourself!
* Get yourself a tent. You'll need 10 brahmin hides, which at early levels can be hard to get. Check shops often for them (especially Hub shops).
* Before you get a tent, you can store your stuff in different towns. Choose towns with very few people and hide your stuff well, it should be moderately safe if you don't leave it there too long.
* Open a bank account if you start near a town with an FLC bank. It costs 100 caps but it's worth it because of the interest rate from 1% to 3%.
* Shovel shit for experience and caps. Several towns contain a brahmin pen (Klamath, Modoc, Vault City, Redding, NCR...). Talk to the pen keeper, grab his shovel and you're ready to clean the pen of all the shit there is! Talk to the pen keeper again when you're done, you'll be rewarded for your work.
* To get caps, you can of course shovel shit, lift caravan boxes, etc. But one of the best ways to trade your hides is to craft Brass Knuckles. They only require one junk for each, that you will find on the floor of urban encounters (South-West of Hub, around New Reno, San Francisco, etc.). Craft about 20 brass knuckles and trade them for your 10 brahmin hides!
* A note on the Economy Most of the caps in circulation are already in the hands of other players. To get around this check back at the shops every few hours, because the storekeepers' supply of caps is periodically refreshed. If you get lucky you can find individual traders who haven't been relieved of their wealth yet, and some of them carry upwards of 10,000 caps!
