It consists of a small shack instead of a tent and has a few more containers. The maps are equal to that of a tent, including the campfire. Everything that goes for a [[tent]] also goes for a Safe House, including how to build one by using a [[Folded Tent]]. Note that a tent that was previously made before this perk was obtained will not automatically turn into a Safe House, and Safe Houses are limited to ten, the same limit as tents. ''The fire is burning. With some wood, you might be able to create a bigger campfire.''

You can upgrade a basic campfire with 3 pieces of [[Wood]]. Once done, you will have some menu options when you access the Campfire:

* Tent management (available for tent owner only)
* Throw something into the fire (available for everyone)

'''Throwing''' something into the fire, as you can guess, destroys that item, but if you choose '''Tent management''', you get the following options:

* Change the name of the tent
* Upgrades
* Create a [[Tent Map|map]] to this location
* Abandon tent

'''Abandon''' tent is how you delete the tent, at which time you lose all items left at the tent location. '''Creating a map''' is how you share the tent's location with other characters. Do this and you get a [[Tent Map]] item which others can use to highlight's this tent's location on the world map.

'''Changing the name''' allows you to choose a custom name for this tent. The '''Upgrades''' option will be expanded more later, but for now allows you to add a workbench to this tent, if you have 100 or more [[Outdoorsman]] and the required materials.

A '''tent''' is a small personal hideout that you can create in almost any random encounter map in the wasteland. Items stored inside the tent are safe, as long as you don't bring any other player there, which makes it a ''must have'' for any character who has no other way to store items safely.

If a tent is ever deleted, all items left at the tent will be permanently lost.

== How to make a tent ==
* Get a folded tent kit, by crafting it, buying it, or as a reward for completing [[A Tent in the Wasteland|tent quest]].
* Enter a random location on desert (the map should be empty with no NPCs at all).
* Open inventory and use the folded tent. A message will be displayed, the screen goes dark for a moment, and the map will be turned into a tent map. If you have any [[followers]] with you, they will also gain access to that tent. Parked [[cars]] will also stay with you when you make a tent.
** '''Make sure no one is with you in the encounter''' (excluding own followers) or you won't be able to make the tent in such location.
** If your character has ten (10) tents already, one of the old tents must be chosen for deletion and all items left there will be lost. '''You can have only ten tents per character.'''

If your character has the [[Ranger]] perk, building a tent yields a [[Safe House]] with a [[workbench]] instead of a standard tent with a crate.

== The Campfire ==
The small fire pit at any standard tent can be upgraded to a [[Campfire]] by using 3 [[Wood]] on the fire pit, which allows you to do some special things, including creating [[Tent Map|tent maps]] for sharing the tent's location.

== Extra Information ==
Nobody can enter your tent unless they follow you (or anyone else with access to your tent), so take care. People like to arrow you and follow you, and if you're not cautious and don't look at who you're carrying, you may introduce enemies into your tent. But if you're not carrying people into your tent, then stuff stored inside is totally safe. (Note, if someone has arrowed on you and follows you into the wasteland, you can remove them from your party by holding your left click down on their player name and selecting the remove from party option)

Your tent has a crate container with limited storage space, but the tent map itself may contain an infinite amount of stuff, since you can harmlessly put stuff on the ground. Gangs may use tents to store fighting gear or their fresh loot.

[[File:Tentdrops.png|thumb|Items dropped outside a tent.]]
It is common practice to arrange large amounts of items in rows on the ground outside a tent. The tent has only one container which has limited space, and some tent owners prefer to keep the container free of clutter. Dropping items on the ground also provides a quick way of visualizing which items have been collected.
Items dropped outside the tent will never disappear unless the tent is deleted due to lack of activity as mentioned above (no players visit it for four weeks), or replaced (the tent's owner builds a new tent).

== Limits ==
*Ten tents per character, each shareable with other characters by using [[Tent Map|tent maps]].

*Each tent is first made with only one small storage crate but additional containers can be added.

*Tents are useful as personal hideouts, safe parking places, gear storage, and potentially as crafting locations.

Unless a character is already a faction member, that character establishes a new faction by buying a base, and must thus designate a name for his new faction during dialogue with an NPC base-seller.

== Method as of Jan 6th, 2012 ==
This year you choose a name for a faction from a pre-written list of available names. You choose a name from the list and tell the NPC base-seller using the "Say" button during the base-buying dialogue.

In the chat bar, type '''~freefactionnames''' or '''~ffn''' (as shown on the [[Commands]] page) and then press '''F2'''. This creates a new txt file in your game directory and writes all available faction names to that file. You can then open that file, scroll to the end of the data, review the names and decide which one you like best.

'''NOTE''': To avoid delays, this decision is best done in advance of going to buy the base, so you know in advance which name to use while talking with the NPC who sells the [[base]] to you.

Within any single faction, each base also gets a name but a base's particular name can be made up on the spot and does not have to come from an official list. So for example a faction name might be "Super Duper Turbo Guys" and they have two bases in that faction, one named "Gecko Pelts Clubhouse" and the other named "Spore Plants Florists". Their faction name had to be chosen from the official list, but their base names were made up on the spot for fun by the members of that faction.

== Method during prior season, 2011 ==
This was when we used a temporary method whereby you'd type "Generic Name" and a number during dialogue. If the number you tried was already taken, you'd have to try again with a different number. This is how [[Generic Name 13]] got its name which later stuck as members decided they liked it. Players sometimes reported spending over an hour trying various numbers attempting to find an available faction name/number using this process, so the new season brings a preferred method.

Your Tent will be deleted automatically if no player visits it within a 4 week period. All items at the tent will be permanently lost.

== How to make a tent ==
* Collect 10 [[brahmin hides]], by buying them from merchants or killing and looting wild [[brahmin|brahmins]].
* Enter a random location on desert (the map should be empty with no hostile or non-hostile NPCs).
* Open inventory and use [[science]] skill on the brahmin hides. '''Do not put the hides on the ground; it will not work that way.''' Hold down your left mouse button on the hides in your inventory to open the drag down the menu and choose the right option to open the [[Skilldex]] menu (The picture of the vault mascot's face). Then choose Science skill. A message will be displayed, and the map will be turned into a tent map. If you have any [[followers]] with you, they will also gain access to that tent. Parked [[cars]] will also stay with you when you make a tent.
** '''Make sure no one is with you in the encounter''' (Any other player with you in the encounter, who is arrowed on you and following you, will also have access to the tent on the world map, so make sure only other players who you want to have access to the tent are present).
** If your character has a tent already, the old tent will be destroyed (deleted) and all items left there will be lost. '''You can have only one tent per character.'''

If your character has the [[Ranger]] perk, building a tent yields a [[Safe House]] with a [[workbench]] instead of a standard tent with a crate.

== The Campfire ==
The small fire pit at any standard tent can be upgraded to a [[Campfire]] by using 3 [[Wood]] on the fire pit, which changes it into a work place where you can make metal parts from iron ore, and gunpowder from minerals. This is very handy for players who work in a nearby mine, since these materials can be processed in safety at the tent and their weight gets largely reduced. This feature is useful as it provides an easy refinery otherwise found only at a [[Workbench]].

=== Shared tents ===
As said above, if you make a tent and there are other players on the same map that are [[tagged]] on you, they will gain access to that tent and will see it on the world map. However, the tent will still belong to the player who created it.

If player X creates a tent, and player Y has access to it (i.e. was there in the encounter when player X created the tent), Y can still create a tent and have access to both, however, X won't be able to create another tent without deleting his first one. Players can have access to an unlimited amount of tents provided they are not their founder.

If the account of a tent creator is deleted for any reason, any other players who had access to that tent will retain their access and the tent will remain, provided it is visited at least once every 4 weeks so it is not deleted due to inactivity.

== Extra Information ==
Nobody can enter your tent unless they follow you (or anyone else with access to your tent), so take care. People like to arrow you and follow you, and if you're not cautious and don't look at who you're carrying, you may introduce enemies into your tent.
The only players who are able to access a tent are those who are there in the encounter when the tent is created. If the owner creates a new tent, anyone who had access to the old tent will NOT have access to the new one, unless they are again in the encounter with the tent creator.

== Limits ==
*Unlike a faction [[base]] you cannot modify which other players have access to your tent. As stated previously, the only people that gain access are those who are following you and are in the encounter during tent creation.

*The tent only has one small storage container.

*Tents are only useful as a personal hideout. They have the advantage not to require a [[faction name]], however.

*Tents are removed after 4 weeks if no player visits them.

== Intro ==

"FOnline2238.cfg" is a configuration file for various FOnline 2238 specific features that don't exist in vanilla [[FOnline]] client, such as [[#Fog|fog of war]], on-screen [[#Section:_Timeouts|timeouts]] and more. This file is not created by the installer or [[FOConfig.exe]] and is not required to run the game. If the file cannot be found in the FOnline directory, default values are used.

Remember, FOnline2238.cfg is <u>'''NOT'''</u> a replacement of "[[FOnline.cfg]]."

'''Note:''' You can easily edit this file with text editor, or use provided tool [[FO2238Config.exe]] instead.

=== Details ===

FOnline2238.cfg uses very simple [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file INI]-like format to configure various settings and features.

Basic configuration example
<pre>
[2238]
DisplayNames=true
</pre>

Notes:
* Lines starting with hash ("'''#'''"), semicolon ("''';'''") are ignored (may be used as comments)
* If file starts with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Byte_order_mark UTF-8 BOM], it's simply stripped from first line

1. Someone with the knowledge should check all the ways as to what exactly causes the radiation. Obviously, going in the map cause cause it, but I heard that just standing in encounters near the Glow or the post-Cathedral Crater can give the radiated status as well. Possibly just by staying on the world map, but I'm even less sure of this. <br>
3. I am pretty sure that Fruit is the only consumable that gives radiation, so the e.g. is most likely unnecessary. But I am not sure of this. It would probably best to give every scenario where one can get radiation, anyway. Some of my thoughts. --[[User:Ganado|Ganado]] 21:56, 8 May 2012 (CEST)

Hey thanks for asking - i got heavily radiated and deducted these numbers by paying attention to changes as i reduced my rads using [[RadAway]]: It took 1 RadAway (and went AFK) which reduced my rads by 150 and which restored my SPECIAL but both indicators were still on. The next RadAway removed 25 more rads and the main indicator, then the remaining 42 rads and the minor indicator. Thus was able to conclude that the 2nd indicator comes on somewhere between 42 and 67. The most reasonable guess is 50. Once Geiger counters are fixed, i will edit this if it turns out i am wrong. -Marko

'''UPDATE''': I have confirmed some info about radiation poisoning. 50/200 are the correct numbers. Additionally, one loses 4 SPECIAL points somewhere between 365 and 390 rads, so i am guessing at 375. Again, i'll keep watching this and make micro-corrections as needed. ! [[Changelog 24/11/2012]]
|-
|
FIXES:
* "In Your Face!" perk works again.
* Weapon in burst mode was showing incorrect hit chance when autoaim was on.
* Fixed Motion Sensor glitch.
* NPCs no longer use doctor skill in turn based combat.
* Bugged tobacco plants can no longer be found in encounters and some other maps.
* Old Warehouse special encounter wasn't deleted in some circumstances after all players left the location.

FEATURES:
* Implemented large doors opening/closing more than one hex. At the moment, the following doors work this way: Vault City gate, metal gate in Broken Hills, gates in outpost bases.
* Empty Bottles can be found around the wastes. They work the same way as waterbags (other uses, not available for waterbags, will be added later).

CHANGES (WIP):
* Replication timeout for player characters reduced to 20 seconds.
* Some of the (visited) maps appear in the Pipboy's Automaps panel.
* Re-enabled "Flaming Dancer" animation.

CHANGES (WIP):
* In Your Face perk now works with nonranged weapons that have the range of two hexes. Also, carrying another weapon in the second slot does not nullify the perk's effect anymore.
* Changes to Armor system:

Armors no longer lose their DT/DR values with lower condition.
Instead armor has a chance to receive "partial bypass" on critical as well as non-critical hits - chance to be bypassed for each bullet when condition goes under 50%
Chance for each bullet to bypass is calculated by formula (50-condition)*2%. (e.g. 0% bypass chance at 50% condition, 50% chance at 25% condition, 100% chance at 0% condition)
"Partial bypass" has no effect on traditional critical hit bypass.

== Intro ==

=== Details ===

FOnline2238.cfg uses very simple [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file INI]-like format to configure various settings and features.

Basic configuration example
<pre>
[2238]
DisplayNames=true
</pre>

Notes:
* Lines starting with hash ("'''#'''"), semicolon ("''';'''") are ignored (may be used as comments)
* If file starts with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Byte_order_mark UTF-8 BOM], it's simply stripped from first line

== Section: 2238 ==

Main section of FOnline2238.cfg, which holds most of configurable options.

----

=== Autosave ===

If possible, client will try to update config file every time you change setting in game, by using function keys, or a command. They will be used next time you start a game. Can be used in config file only.

Notes:
* with autosave enabled, all comments/empty lines will be removed

{{ConfigurationVar|type=boolean|default=off}}

New ini files are loaded parsed after loading all [[DataFiles|data files]], for making "one file - one interface" possible.

Notes:
* if you want to load more than one file, separate it with pipe symbol (|)
"FOnline2238.cfg" is a configuration file for various FOnline 2238 specific features that don't exist in vanilla Fallout 2 such as [[DataFiles|data files]] loading, on-screen [[timeouts]] and more. This file is not created by the installer or FOConfig and is not required to run the game. If the file cannot be found in the FOnline directory, default values are used.

Articles in this category describe [[#mw-pages|each section]] of configuration file.

Remember, FOnline2238.cfg is <u>'''NOT'''</u> a replacement of "FOnline.cfg."

== Details ==

FOnline2238.cfg uses very simple [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file INI]-like format to configure various settings and features.

Notes:
* Lines starting with hash ("'''#'''"), semicolon ("''';'''") are ignored (may be used as comments)
* If file starts with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Byte_order_mark UTF-8 BOM], it's simply stripped from first line

=== Settings types ===
<pre>
CampOnWorldmap=0

Welcome to the Dogs of War wiki page! We are a very serious PvP, Anti-PK faction primarily from Nicaragua. We believe in freedom in the wasteland for all innocent peoples!

DoW is the most robust and girthy faction in the world.

== DoW Leadership ==
DoW is the only democratic republic in the wasteland.
All promotions, policy issues and major decisions are decided by voting.
All members get a say in major issues, but matters concerning national security and foreign relations are decided by high ranking and trusted members only.

The rank system:
There are 4 main ranks, Hobo, Hoon, Skag, Dog.
To get promoted, someone of a higher rank than you must nominate you, and then all higher ranks cast their votes.
People of the same rank as you cannot vote on your promotion or nominate you for promotion.
[[Coco Jumbo]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaZlFRL0ZB4]]

This holy work is a microcosm of the culture that marked the final stage of western civilizations descent into madness.
It is an essential historical landmark in the fOnline canon, but is still generally overlooked be even the most hardcore role-players due to ignorance.

In the wasteland, most inhabitants view Coco Jumbo and "Mr. President" through a veil of myth and legend.
All that is known is that some time around the turn of the millennium there was a dark skinned man known as "Mr President" whose name is often reported as "Obama".
He roamed the beaches shirtless, hypnotizing passers by with his dulcet tones and masterful cadence. Some say that he defeated the leader of Russia at that time in a pop 'N lock contest.
It is also recorded that he performed many miracles, such as opening a beer with his feet and smoking a cigar while whistling the American national anthem.

He received a Nobel peace prize for his actions.

This historical account is a contentious issue amounts wasteland historians and political figures, some of whom violently oppose the story of Obama and his shirtless rippling justice.
They seek to destroy all record of him and his miracles, to maintain their own power and authority over the weak and obscure the shining beacon of divine light from the eyes of the downtrodden proletariat.

Player-driven factions, as opposed to [[NPC-driven factions]], are formal groups established and run entirely by players.

Anyone can create a player-driven faction. In order to do it, one needs to buy a '''[[base]]''', which can only be done together with at least 3 other people.

It is not possible to be in a player-driven faction and an [[NPC-driven factions|NPC-driven faction]] at the same time.

Please take your time to read them before adding an article on your faction.
I suggest this page become a Category and all food items get a Food Category link. This would include all items that can either be fed to mercs currently, and items that could potentially be fed to mercs as food in the future, like tv dinners, cheezy poofs, smitty's meal (could be added to game), water, meat slices, noodles (box), meat jerky, cookies, booze, fruit...-[[User:Marko|Marko]] 28 November 2012
* Good idea, sooner or later there will be a bit of love for such items. PS: please put your signature on talk pages (simply add "'''<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>'''" at the end) -[[User:Wipe|Wipe]] ([[User talk:Wipe|talk]]) 21:31, 28 November 2012 (CET)

Update: there is already a Category page called [[Consumables]] to which perhaps this Food page should be redirected. Then we can add a Category Consumables link to additional food items. -[[User:Marko|Marko]] 28 November 2012
* What about splitting Consumables into Drugs / Food / Blueprints? So anything added to any of these categories, will be automagically put into Consumables as well. I belive it can be done via category pages - and if not, templates can be abused a bit, after all they're born for that -[[User:Wipe|Wipe]] 00:15, 29 November 2012 (CET)

=== Client Debug mode ===
Start the game with -DebugInfo like this:

'''FOnline.exe -DebugInfo'''

*F1 shows a lot of statistics and additional info like exact map coordinates. Do not have F1 activated on the world map the game may crash to the desktop...
*F7 shows the NPC names.
*CTRL+F7 shows the IDs.
*F9 shows some kind of useless pathfinding stuff...
*F10 shows the grid.
*F11 saves all graphics loaded into the game engine's buffers to your HDD,

These are useful for debugging, but gives no any kind of advantages to the player. Note that if you encounter 3D objects like desert stalkers for example the 3D layers might get also visible ruining the game's visual look.

Also note that if you press F1 in debug mode on the world map the game may crash to the desktop...

Wipe: /* Timeouts */ follow the naming scheme

== Intro ==

=== Details ===

FOnline2238.cfg uses very simple [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file INI]-like format to configure various settings and features.

Basic configuration example
<pre>
[2238]
DisplayNames=true
</pre>

Notes:
* Lines starting with hash ("'''#'''"), semicolon ("''';'''") are ignored (may be used as comments)
* If file starts with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Byte_order_mark UTF-8 BOM], it's simply stripped from first line

== Section: 2238 ==

Main section of FOnline2238.cfg, which holds most of configurable options.

----

=== Autosave ===

If possible, client will try to update config file every time you change setting in game, by using function keys, or a command. They will be used next time you start a game. Can be used in config file only.

Notes:
* with autosave enabled, all comments/empty lines will be removed

{{ConfigurationVar|type=boolean|default=off}}

New ini files are loaded parsed after loading all [[DataFiles|data files]], for making "one file - one interface" possible.

Notes:
* if you want to load more than one file, separate it with pipe symbol (|)

== Intro ==

=== Details ===

FOnline2238.cfg uses very simple [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/INI_file INI]-like format to configure various settings and features.

Basic configuration example
<pre>
[2238]
DisplayNames=true
</pre>

Notes:
* Lines starting with hash ("'''#'''"), semicolon ("''';'''") are ignored (may be used as comments)
* If file starts with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Byte_order_mark UTF-8 BOM], it's simply stripped from first line

----

=== Autosave ===

If possible, client will try to update config file every time you change setting in game, by using function keys, or a command. They will be used next time you start a game. Can be used in config file only.

Notes:
* with autosave enabled, all comments/empty lines will be removed

New ini files are loaded parsed after loading all [[DataFiles|data files]], for making "one file - one interface" possible.
