Bloody Mess makes the critters you kill have the most violent death available. If you wield Small Guns or Big Guns, this has no effect other than increasing the beauty of deaths, but if you wield Energy Weapons, having Bloody Mess often instantly turns your dead enemies to dust, spreading their gear on the floor instead of keeping it in an easily, quickly lootable corpse. In other terms, it will take longer to loot the persons you kill with a combination of Energy Weapons and Bloody Mess.

Most of the players think that Bloody Mess isn't worth it, because you can have only two optional traits, however it can be used as some tactics to waste the time of your opponents by spreading the gear of those you kill on the floor. It is however true that it gives less advantages than most of the traits, but it is also the only trait that gives no penalty.
