Carry weight is used to define the quantity of equipment you can carry. Your character can carry a certain weight, depending on his strenght. If you want to, gaining more levels you will be able to take the Strong Back (Several times, each adding 22 kilograms to your max weight limit) or the Pack Rat (Only one time, adding 22 kilograms too) perks that allow you to carry more objects.

Carry weight is calculated in grams. However, perk description is written in pounds (Abbreviated lbs). A pound is equal to approximately 0.45 kilograms.

Weight limit base formula

The base maximum carry weight is calculated with the following formula :

  • (25+(Strenght*25))/2.2. An average character with a Strenght equal to 5 will then be able to carry 67 kilograms. 10 Strenght equals to 124 kilograms.

Small Frame trait

If you have the Small Frame trait, then your base carry weight is (25+(Strenght*15))/2.2 kilograms. An average character with a Strenght equal to 5 will then be able to carry 45 kilograms.

Penalties

If you carry more than the usual weight you can carry, you will be slowed down - only able to walk. If you carry even more than this, you will not be able to move at all.

Please note that even if you carry your exact weight limit you might be overweighted, due to grams that might make your carry weight appearing lower than it seem. For example, 150/150 kilograms when it's in fact 150.6/150 kilograms.
