[edit] The Company
Vault-Tec was a pre-war corporation which was responsible, under orders from the U.S. government, to build the shelters that would come to be known as Vaults. Its corporate headquarters is located in Washington DC, which is outside the FOnline: 2238 game zone.
122 Vaults were built, only 17 of which were designed for purely preserving human life. The other 105 were each designed around some sort of social experiment, most of which led to mass hysteria, murder, radiation, mutation, or other unpleasant results among the inhabitants.
Due to Vault-Tec's extensive manufacture of numerous goods, ranging from vaults to handbooks to supplies for the vaults, the name is well known in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout.
In Los Angeles, known today as the Boneyard, there were Vault-tec magazines, and the vault built for demonstration purposes. This Vault no longer exists, having been destroyed by the Vault Dweller. Where this vault once stood, now only a crater remains.
