These smoked and dried chunks of beast-flesh remain chewy and even somewhat nutritious for years...

It cant be obtained by hunting male nomads with spears, in vertical line 4 squares west from Klamath.
You can ask Grisham in Modoc to make some of his famous jerky for you. He will give you one Meat Jerky for two pieces of meat.
