Vault-Tec was a pre-war corporation which was responsible, under orders from the U.S. government, to build the shelters that would come to be known as Vaults. Its corporate headquarters is located in Washington DC, which is outside the FOnline:_2238 game zone.

Due to Vault-Tec's extensive manufacture of numerous goods, ranging from vaults to handbooks to supplies for the vaults, the name is well known in the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout.
