Hub RPG

Hub RPG project is a GM WORK IN PROGRESS. It will start when it will be ready. I don't know when it will be ready. If you want to discuss it or have some ideas, you can talk about it on #2238help IRC channel. The project will be developed by me in the open, on this page (the parts that are not spoilers).

Project Description

The purpose of the project is to turn Hub into a full-fledged role-playing town with no compromises. One such town in whole wasteland! It is supposed to be another try and a significant improvement over Hub roleplay project. After the project start will be announced, standard 2238 rules will be replaced with Hub RPG rules inside Hub and other Hub locations created around the town (like Hub graveyard and Hub prison).

Project Rules

Important note: the Hub RPG project rules are not the laws of Hub town. Many things that are allowed for you as a player might get your character into serious trouble if you will get caught by law enforcement or by some lawful citizens. However you are still allowed to break the town laws (and get away with it, if you can).

1. GENERAL RULES
   1. You can enter and leave Hub locations freely as long as you don’t break the project rules. You can enter with any item and leave with any item (if you manage to).
   2. To stay in any Hub location your character must have at least level 6. Characters with lower level will be asked to read the rules and leave town until they level up a bit.
   3. Game Masters inside Hub locations have full creative freedom and can do with your character, your inventory and environment around you whatever they like, as long as your character is there as well. However, GM actions must have a role-play purpose. If you think behavior of some GM is unfair or doesn't make sense role-play wise, you can use Hub RPG thread on forum or #2238help IRC channel to talk about the issue.
2. ROLE-PLAYING
   1. You must always "stay in character" while you are in Hub. You don't have to interact with other characters at all, but you are not allowed to say OOC (out-of-context) things, for example talk about game mechanics, builds, real life, announcing “AFK” etc.
   2. Because OOC messages are not allowed, /o can have a different meaning in Hub. You can use it however you like as long as it doesn't break other rules.
   3. Name of your character should be orthographically correct and should not be OOC. Entering Hub with upsetting and obscene nicknames is not allowed. Cyrillic alphabet is not allowed.
   4. You should use English to communicate with other players in Hub. However, you can throw in a few foreign words for roleplaying purposes (for example if you role-play a traveler from Mexico).
3. CHARACTER INTERACTIONS
   1. Attacking other characters in Hub is allowed. It is treated as non-fatal assault in most cases. For details please read CRIME AND PUNISHMENT part of the manual.
   2. Trying to steal from other player character inventory is allowed, however you are not allowed to harass any player repeatedly. If the character moved away, turned around or said something like “get out”, you must walk away. You can try again with the same person the next real day.
   3. Only the smallest items can be placed in inventory of other characters (max weight allowed is 500 grams). Placing explosives in inventory of other characters is strictly prohibited.
   4. Anything else is allowed as long as it makes sense roleplay-wise. If there are doubts, then the final decision belongs to GM. You can discuss about it on forum or IRC.
4. PUNISHMENT FOR BREAKING HUB RPG RULES
   1. Players who will break one of the rules will be warned. If they will keep breaking them, their character will die and will not spawn again. If they will still keep breaking them, bans will extend to the other characters of the player, even those not involved in Hub RPG. Obvious trolls will be banned right away. You are not allowed to enter Hub to complain about the rules, shout OOC obscenities etc. Feel free to criticize the project on forum or IRC.
