Bases are the core of FOnline:2238. It was, at the very beginning of this FOnline mod, the first difference between the two servers. At that time, FOnline:2238 was still called Factions Mod. By taking a base, your gang gets a faction name, a safe place to store its stuff and a computer to add or remove players from the team. That last advantage is one of the main differences with a simple tent, for example.

To buy a base

The trade

You can buy your bases in Redding, Klamath and Junktown. Each time, the base seller is a trapper into the town's main bar. Bases cost 30 000 caps, 70 000 caps or 130 000 caps. Talk to the trapper while a few members of your gang are arrowed on you and very close to the trapper, then tell him what kind of base you wish - depending on price. Clicking on the "say" button, you will be able to write you own faction name (It has to be on that list). Well done, your faction is made, your gang has a base that you can see on the worldmap !

Base management

From the "Manage Members" option, you can add a new member to your faction.
In the "Manage Members" menu, leaders of the faction can manage their mates.

Add a member

You have to be the leader of the faction or an important member to do so :

  • "Manage members".
  • "Invite new member".
  • Select "Say", and write the name of the player you want to add. He has to be logged in, and when you'll have wrote his name, he will be "Invited". "Invited" players can't see your base on the worldmap but can't be attacked by the mercs guarding your base either.

All this being done, you have to bring the new member to your base. He will use the computer and accept your invitation : From that time, he will be a member of your faction and will see the base on the worldmap.

Promote/Demote

You have to be of an higher rang than the player you want to promote/demote.

  • "Manage members".
  • "Promote member".
  • Select "Say" and add the name of the player you want to promote.

Or :

  • "Manage members".
  • "Browse members list".
  • Browse the list and select "promote" when you are on the right page.

Protect your base

You can put some mercs or slaves in your base to defend it. They will kill any enemy entering your base (Either because of a betrayal or a successful tracking). Tell them to guard the place, and to shoot at anyone who isn't a member of your faction.

Available bases maps

In Klamath

The Cave, a little base available for 30k caps.

Into Klamath's entrance bar (Maida Buckner's), talk to Smiley, the trapper. He will be able to sell you two bases, both for 30 000 caps.

The cave

The Cave, really easy to defend but a bit small. It's the only base map divided into two parts : One part is the cliff side, with the entrance of the cave on one side - an empty desert map - and the other part is the inside of the cave itself. It contains the usual crafting tools (Workbench, still), a brahmin pen and only 3 lockers. It's not a pretty good base since Depot has more containers and is sold at the same price, but cave has one advantage : It's really, really easy to defend it, because you just have to put mercs or slaves on the tiny cave entrance.

The depot

The Depot map, costing 30k caps.

Depot is a small outpost, with 3 lockers, 3 desks and 3 shelfs (9 containers). It has a workbench with one slot and a still. There's also a brahmin pen. On the map, you can find wood, flint, electronic parts and junk. It's a good and cheap base, but that may be hard to protect against enemies.

In Redding

In Redding, you can buy the two bases seen above, but also one of the most popular bases.

Scrapheap

Scrapheap, a fair base available for 70k caps !

Scrapheap is a popular base costing 70 000 caps. It is larger than Depot or Cave. Its location is often between Redding and Broken Hills. It contains 5 lockers a workbench, a still and a brahmin pen. On the map, you can also find junk, electronic parts and flint.

Junktown

In Junktown, you can buy the three bases seen above, but also the most expensive base in the game.

The outpost

The outpost is the most expensive map : It will cost you 130 000 caps ! Very easy to defend because it is surrounded by walls, containing two buildings and two tents, it is certainly the best base map. Its location on the worldmap will often be between NCR and Junktown. It has a dozen of lockers, a workbench, a still, and you can find there fruits and fibers.
